Do you still sell your Protein-Packed Dog Treat Bars?
Our beloved small batch, limited run Dog Treat Bars are no longer available. By focusing on our proprietary meat proteins – and making them available to established pet food manufacturers- we can have a larger impact on the lives of pets, farm animals and the planet. Today we’re working to commercialize brewed meat protein for our valued partners around the world.
What is precision fermentation?
Precision fermentation is a technology that has been used to safely and effectively produce a multitude of food ingredients for decades. Working with microbes like yeast and a feedstock of simple sugars, salts, vitamins and minerals, this “brewing” technology is able to produce everything from lactic acid to vitamin B12, enzymes for cheese manufacture- and our future meat proteins.
Why not just use conventional meat in pet food products?
Meat is a beautiful thing for dogs and cats. It gives them all of the essential amino acids to thrive, and it’s highly digestible and bioavailable.
With that it’s no surprise that the amount of meat that our pets eat isn’t trivial. If the dogs and cats in the U.S. alone were their own country, their consumption of meat products would rank fifth in the world.
Yet the production of meat comes with a host of environmental, safety and animal welfare challenges to satiate this demand.
Through microbial fermentation, there’s a better way to create proteins and complete foods that perform just the same- or better- without the downsides. So people, pets, farm animals and the planet all win.
